JESTINE: Welcome to Growing up Powerful with Rebel Girls!

ASHA: I’m Asha.

JESTINE: It’s pretty clear, I’m Jestine. And we’re two best friends trying to figure out this thing called life.

ASHA: But most importantly, have we told you lately that you’re STRONG

JESTINE: SMART

ASHA: POWERFUL and

JESTINE: MAKING THIS WORLD A BRIGHTER PLACE?

ASHA: Well, it’s true.

JESTINE: And it’s important for you to know this and feel this every day.

ASHA: So for this mindfulness break, we’re going to share some empowering phrases with you that you can say to yourself any time, any place.

JESTINE: You can say them while looking in the mirror.
ASHA: You can write them down and stick them somewhere like in your journal or by your bed.

JESTINE: You can even just mouth the words.

ASHA: Yeah. Even if you’re not feeling like they’re totally true to you today, think of these words like a vision board, so you are naming the things that you love about yourself or want to love about yourself.

JESTINE: Okay, you ready?

ASHA: Let’s gooooo!
ASHA: First, take a deep breath and roll your shoulders down your back. Close your eyes if you want and just feel yourself whole and bright.
Now, repeat after me, either aloud or in your head.
I BELIEVE IN MYSELF.

JESTINE: I believe in myself.

ASHA: I AM GROWING UP POWERFUL.

JESTINE: I am growing up powerful.

ASHA: I AM CONFIDENT AND COURAGEOUS.

JESTINE: I am…trying to be confident and courageous.

ASHA: I MAKE THIS WORLD A BRIGHTER PLACE.

JESTINE: I make this world a brighter place.

ASHA: LISTEN UP! I HAVE IMPORTANT THINGS TO SAY.

JESTINE: Listen up. I have important things to say.

BEAT

JESTINE: Yeah, I’m working on that one. But I know with practice

ASHA: Sure it is! [INSERT: Great!] Okay, what if you try some phrases that feel meaningful to you. What do you like about yourself?

JESTINE: Okay…um…I TRY REALLY HARD.

ASHA: Yes! You work your butt off at school, at track, at even dancing for hours and hours.

JESTINE: Thank you. Okay, how about…
I AM FUN AND FUNNY.

ASHA: So true. You are the funniest person I know.

JESTINE: I AM A GOOD FRIEND.

ASHA: The best!

JESTINE: I AM…PRETTY OKAY AT THE TRUMPET.

ASHA: Just pretty okay?

JESTINE: I AM…GETTING BETTER AT THE TRUMPET.

ASHA: (making a trumpet sound) Do do do doooo!

JESTINE: And…I AM REBEL.

ASHA: Oh yeah you are!

JESTINE: Ta da!

ASHA: See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?

JESTINE: It definitely gets more fun the more you do it.

ASHA: I think so too. So, Rebels, these words are here for you whenever you want them.

JESTINE: And definitely try making up your own!

ASHA: Yeah. Think about the things that you like about yourself, or that you’re good at. Also, think about the things you want to like about yourself.

JESTINE: Yeah. We’re all works in progress. Amiright?

ASHA: For sure.

JESTINE: This is our last mindfulness break for this season, but we’ll be back to tell you how awesome you are soon.

ASHA: Yes! Thank you so much for growing up powerful with us!
